For the latest
2009.10.04 02:27:00

I don't get a chance to update this blog very often. For the latest news, you can visit my website or my (duplicate) blogs on WordPress and LiveJournal. Hope you'll stop by.

I have written professionally for more years than I care to admit and have specialized in erotic fiction and poetry since 2001. I have sold three novels as well as numerous short stories and poems to various print and electronic magazines and anthologies. My work has received high praise from readers, critics, and other writers.

Night Owl Romance named my latest novel, Dommemoir, a Top Pick. Preditors & Editors Readers Poll named her novel, Shattered, one of the top ten erotica novels published in 2008. Broken was number twelve in the mainstream category for 2008.

Author Chat / Poetry Contest
2009.09.19 03:00:37

This weekend (today through Sunday), I'll host the weekly Circlet Press Author Chat on LiveJournal. I'll share some thoughts about changes in the publishing industry, rights issues, platform, author compensation, etc.

I would very much appreciate it if you would join me there and participate in the conversation. I'd love to see your comments on what I've written and would be happy to answer any questions. Stop Circlet Press Author Chat any time during the weekend.

I'm also sponsoring a poetry contest. Anyone who would like to submit an erotic poem will be eligible to win a free, autographed copy of my erotic poetry collection Pain of Love. The prize will be given to the poem I like the best. (As in all literary contests, the results are completely subjective. I reserve the right to award more than one prize.)

To enter, post a poem of 25 lines or less in the comments section for Erotic Poetry Contest. Both traditional and free verse are welcome. One entry per person. Deadline is noon PDT Sunday. Prizes announced at end of my day Sunday.

Survey / Listen to steamy poems online
2009.03.04 12:07:02

I've been pondering how dreams and fiction are interrelated. I'd appreciate it if you'd take my survey – only  three quick multiple choice questions.  Results are anonymous.

Also, I shared a couple of my short erotic poems on The SpeakEasy Cafe  recently. You can listen to the archive at http://tinyurl.com/IGonSE. I'm on 20 minutes into the show. Best not to listen while at work or with kids around.

Goodreads / Twitter
2009.02.20 01:26:15
I've set up an author profile on Goodreads. Would love to have some fans or friends there. Perhaps you would like to check it out.

There's Erotic fan and BDSM discussion groups, but they only have twelve and  five members so far.  Would be great to see more.

I've also succumbed to the bird's call. If you're on Twitter, feel free to follow me.

Best.

Thank you all
2009.02.09 10:36:45
Thanks you so much. Those of you who voted for my work in the Preditors & Editors poll, I really appreciate your support.

Shattered was named in the top ten novels in the erotica category and Broken came in number 12 (out of almost 100 entries) in the mainstream category. Also, my short story, "If you love someone" made the top ten in the romance category.

Broken and Shattered are available from Relatively Wilde, or can be ordered from Powells.

"If you love someone" is available for only 99 cents (along with three other of my short stories) here at Ravenous Romance .

Brick & Mortar
2009.01.23 04:32:11
Yesterday, I learned that Powell’s will carry my novels, Broken and Shattered.

The Nazca Plains Corporation, the small press that published them, delivered books to me last August, barely more than a month after I signed the contract.  Normally, with a traditional publisher, that’s a one- to two- year process.

But the distribution network works at the same snail’s pace regardless of how fast books come off the presses.  The novels weren’t even available for most bookstores to order until mid-November. According to the website, Powell’s is accepting preorders for May.

So my books have only been available to folks who know me and those who found out about my novels via my website, mailing list, My Space profile, or stumbled across listings by the publisher, Relatively Wilde, or Amazon.

The owner of Relatively Wilde has been very supportive, carrying my books even though he mostly sells non-fiction, and working with me on promotions. I have seen my books for sale as part of his displays at a number of events in the past several months.

But, knowing I will be able to walk into Powell’s (where I can and regularly do get lost in the stacks) and see my books on the shelf, has given me a thrill. All authors dream of seeing their published work on display where anyone can purchase it. That, and all the wonderful comments/reviews by folks who have read the books so far, make it easier to keep writing despite rejection and hardship.

I'd appreciate your vote
2009.01.14 04:42:44

Normally my first blog post in a new forum would be introductory, but I need your help and I've got a tight deadline. (I promise the introduction next time.)

One of my Ravenous Romance short stories "If You Love Someone..." as well as my novels, Broken and Shattered, have been nominated in different categories for the Preditors & Editors Readers' Poll. If you could take a few minutes and vote for them, I’d appreciate your support very much.

Each vote is on a different page and needs to be entered by midnight Thursday.

"If You Love Someone..." http://www.critters.org/predpoll/shortstoryr.shtml

Shattered: http://www.critters.org/predpoll/novelerot.shtml

Broken: http://www.critters.org/predpoll/novel.shtml

When you go to each page, search for Frederick

select the button

enter your name and e-mail address at the bottom of the page

and click submit data

(Names and email addresses are not kept once the poll closes, and will not be given to anyone for use in a mailing list.)

You will get an e-mail for each vote and you will need to click on the link in each e-mail for your vote to count (even though it says that you've approved all votes for your e-mail, you have to confirm each one).

Randomly selected voters may receive a prize such as a book, subscription, or t-shirt.

Thanks very much.
