Man of the Shadows — Synopsis

Holly Raines is overwhelmed with her responsibilities. A reporter for a small independent newspaper in Albany, she has very little time for a social life. Her depressed sister has moved in with her, her mother is struggling with her fourth marriage, and Holly's lawyer boyfriend, Dan, is too preoccupied to give Holly much, including minimal sexual satisfaction.
Sexually and emotionally frustrated, Holly decides to get away on her own and work on the steamy, erotic novel she's been fantasizing. She drives off into the Adirondack Mountains to camp. Holing up in an old, isolated cabin, she prepares to write and relax. But the world suddenly shifts, and she finds herself trapped in a bizarre "time fold" that will not let her leave.
Then she discovers she is not alone. Snared in the time fold with her is Alexander Wyeth, an incredibly handsome and rugged Revolutionary War lieutenant who had been fighting with his men close by and was wounded in the shoulder. Tentative and frightened at first, they forge a friendship and then a fiery sexual passion as they face their new reality apart from the lives they used to know. But when Alexander's superiors break through the fold and come after him, declaring they will take him back to hang for desertion, Holly and Alexander must find a way to save his life. And to find out if their cross-centuries love was truly meant to be.
